I being a new employee and team member of the ATCEN family would like to salute all existing team members of ATCEN. The team creates such a welcoming environment from the first day of interview till the day that I have joined. Now I feel like I am part of the ATCEN family. In addition to being friendly the ATCEN family is also courteous and polite. I feel contented and happy to be able to join ATCEN, and I am proud of being an ATCENian. A BIG salute to all for creating such an astonishing work environment that allows performance.

If you were to go to the Burger King next to the Petronas station at Mutiara Damansara, you will not regret it. The staff there is friendly and helpful. Why do I say this you ask? A few days ago I had dinner there with a friend of mine and I saw the promotion for Star Wars merchandising. I was curious and ask whether they had the items as the promotion had been going on for some time. The lady mentioned that they only had the T-shirts, which then I enquired whether the still had the cap. Sadly to my disappointment she said no. So I ordered my food and sat down to eat. As I was about to eat the same lady came to my table and asked whether if I was still interested in the cap. Obviously I answered yes and she then told me that she can order the cap from a different outlet. I said ok which after that she took my number and stated that she will call me in a few days time to come and collect the item. I give thumbs up to the lady as she had exceeded my expectations.

A big thank you to the Team at Casa Rachado, especially to Max, your efficiency and effectiveness in ensuring that the training room is ready every time we were there. Secondly, a big thank you goes to Suresh for his invaluable assistance in getting me a spare laptop. The both of you thoroughly know the meaning of hospitality and giving it all for your guest.

If there is one area where customer service is non-existent it will be the automobile service center. Or is it? The smallest gestures go the furthest. From experience, having sent our car (of a national make) to various service centers, we never expect good service. My paradigm was about to make a 360!

Mr. Teoh from this service center was very welcoming when we arrived with what seemed like an authentic smile. Skeptically, we expected the worst. (The wider the smile, the worse you’ll be cheated is the rule.) As he went through the checklist prior to servicing our car, he displayed a genuine interest in the welfare of the car pointing out some things that we have noticed but thought were insignificant. We waited in the customer’s lounge which was cool, had a remarkably clean restroom and offered free soft drinks. After an hour, our car rolled out to the front of the waiting area and it was gleaming. They even included a complimentary car wash! It was a VERY pleasant experience.

Mr. Teoh of Perodua Service Center (Dealer) near the Taman Bahagia LRT station in PJ, my salute is to you and your company for outshining Perodua themselves.

Frontliners are important people in an organization as they give the first impression to visitors who step into an organization. This salute goes to Santamarey of CNI customer service counter for her excellent face-to-face customer service skills towards any walk-ins; dedication and attentiveness towards the senior citizens who regularly visit the organization.

A late night two weeks ago which happened to be my first time in Penang, I was lost in the city with no ability to communicate in mandarin. It was difficult for me to ask around for directions and help until this young hero of mine showed up. To this young man who has helped me find my way back to my hotel, I am grateful to you.

Near my office, there’s a small café by the name of Passion Café. It looks small from the outside, and there are not many tables inside too. One day, I went in to try their food because I was bored with the other eatery at this area. I was not expecting much in terms of service, so I was pleasantly surprised when the waiter approached me with a wide smile on his face. He gave me the menu and went off for a while to let me decide. A few minutes later, he came back and took my order. Again the smile was there, and he was polite too. After waiting for 10 minutes, my food arrived and was delivered to me by a lady, who smiled as well. From what I could see, the food was delivered relatively fast to the other diners as well and the service staff in the café was always smiling. You could see that they were very willing to serve, which is rare for a small eatery.

It was a pleasant experience, and I will definitely go back there to eat again. What’s even more important is that I will be telling my friends about the place and the great service given!

Kudos to the Uncle and Auntie down at Nik Naks which is just around the corner from our office. Their encouraging support and big smiles daily if amazing. They have recently taken the initiative to type a petition letter on behalf of the businesses in this area to request for a lower parking rate. They may be senior citizens, but their continuous efforts in making this business communictay a better place is worthy of our salute.

A round of applause is to be given to the service managerand his team of this small yet warm Vietnamese restaurant which is located in the Curve Shopping Mall. The service and the food that we experience was something else that we have not enjoyed in quite a while. The thoughfulness of the staff in their eagerness to explain about the method for us to better enjoy our meal was fun yet interesting. The passion they had was amazing eventhough we were there just to enjoy 2 bowls of beef ball noodle soup.

My Salute goes to my Management Accounting Risk and Control Strategy Lecture – Mr Ramesh of Systematic College.

Being in the strategic level for CIMA is tough enough to make anyone go insane. By not having an experience lecture will make it happen even faster. The first 2 months of feeling like “what are we learning here?” was resolved after having Mr Ramesh in the class for less then 3 month before I headed to the examination hall of University Malaya to sit for the exam. Mr Ramesh has always been an excellent lecturer, always making sure the students are taken care of and advising the students on how to study, apply the notes, and also how to memorize the important notes.

He even prepare additional notes for the students during his weekends and spending late nights preparing them. He not only a lecture for Systematic College but also a CE for Kumpulan Emas. In addition, he even provided us with his mobile number and email to contact him if there is anything that we don’t understand or might require further help.

I really want to say Thank you Mr Ramesh for helping me and I have passed the Management Accounting Risk and Control Strategy Paper!

Salute to the unknown

How often do you find someone helpful nowadays? I will like to express my gratitude to this young gentleman who helped me in relocating a motorcycle, which was obstructing Cindy’s car. I would say that I am a total novice with bikes, and I had no idea how to move it aside and while staring at its hitches and gadgets, a young gentleman approached and volunteered to help. Not only have I learned to move a stationary motorcycle, I learn to believe that they are exceptions in this wonderful place that everyone calls EARTH.

My salute goes out to Cindy Wong. I sincerely admire her patience and the acceptance to constructive criticism and the willingness to change.

Cindy Wong being the eldest in her family has to take care of some of the chores at home. Lately, her brother has been admitted to the hospital owing to a minor ear infection and she has to visit him almost everyday at the hospital. In spite of visiting her brother and taking care of the family chores she still has a load of work here at ALC (ATCEN LEARNING CENTER) to complete. She was pressured by the team here to complete it on time according to the dateline. She accepted the pressure with calmness and patience completing the datelines assigned to her.

BRAVO Cindy! Keep it up! Keep up the pace and we will always be here to support you.

“Recently, I was trying to purchase something online which I realized it cannot be found in Malaysia. Therefore, after scouring through a few websites, I found one which has a customer service number which reads a KL number. I tried my luck and ordered through the website at that moment. To my surprise, I got a call almost immediately from the particular company (from KL of course), and he guided me step by step as in how I was suppose to order the item online. At the end of it, he mentioned it’ll be shipped to me within the week and I got it in 3 days time. Now that is what I called exceptional delivery of customer service.”

A Cut Above at Sunway Pyramid was the scene of one of my most memorable customer service experiences ever. When I walked in, Monica Gill, the junior stylist who attended to me explained each and every process I asked about in detail and was very helpful. During the styling process, she made me feel very comfortable and relaxed by constantly asking what I wanted as well as offering hair maintenance and styling advice. I was also hugely impressed by the hospitality shown by the staff as I was offered tea and magazines to read. A Cut Above, I salute you!

The Eye on Malaysia, the largest portable ‘observation wheel’ in the world, was unveiled by the Prime Minister of Malaysia on 6 January 2006. Of course, being a patriotic Malaysian, I went on the wheel with my friends on a warm Sunday night. The first place we visited upon our arrival there was the mobile toilet. We didn’t expect a mobile toilet to be used for the magnificent Eye on Malaysia. Hence, I’d like to give a BIG salute to the Indian man in his mid 40’s who took care of the toilet. As we were waiting in line to relieve ourselves, he was there splashing water to clean the toilet. He also needed to fix the leaking pipe that transfers the sewage to the drain, and he did it dutifully and properly. I noticed that he needed to splash water and put the pipe in place every 30 minutes, to ensure the hygiene and the comfort of the users. Other than that, he also sprayed fragrance. This salute is for the service that he contributed. It looks easy, but doing the job (cleaning toilets) is a NO-NO for most of us!

Recently I have move to a new home, a bigger place compared to previous one. I saw an offer on an existing internet broadband service that is available at the premise and after much thinking and contemplating; I decided to sign up. The connection speed however, not as good as the established broadband service provider that available in the market. However, the good feel experience that I have encountered is that the technician responds time to the downtime is fast and reliable. He will respond and inform the user on the downtime also on the timeline for problem rectification via SMS. To Mr Yong of WINetworks, I salute you for giving the good feel customer service!
