27 Nov marks a very special day in ATCEN's history, the ATCEN signage is put in place. There were many bystanders at the scene as the sky lift slowly lifts up the signage into position. Now, standing tall and majestic overlooking Damansara Perdana, one can notice the office from afar. It is definitely a proud day for all ATCEN-ians.

 

Hiring the right person is very critical to improving competitiveness and efficiency of a business. ATCEN recognizes this need and Behaviour Interviewing Skills workshop was created. It happened from November 3rd – November 4th at ATCEN Learning Centre. Participants were given a lot of opportunities to practice in many kinds of role plays including pre-interviews and learned insights on how to get candidates to feel comfortable about their interviews.

 

Scenario Writing with Regards to the 7 C’s, The Proper way to Compose Emails, Memos and Letters are some of the things learned at an English Writing Skills Workshop that is conducted at outLOUD Academy from November 4th – 5th. The participants definitely left not only with many insights but also with a passion to write well and be more engaging through written communication.

 

It happened for 60 in Taiping from October 24th- 25th, it happened for 112 in Kedah from October 30th – 31st and it happened for another 60 in Penang from October 31st – 1st November. What are we talking about? NCIA Edu – Citi – Tel Character Assessment! All participants were 10 year old male students. They were involved in numerous experiential team and personal development activities during their 2 days and 1 nights stay in the 3 respective location. Student were assess during their participation in the activities and selected students will have an opportunity to be involved in the Edu – Citi – Tel smart school.

From October 28-29, participants from different companies came together to increase their contact center inbound teleskills knowledge at outLOUD Academy. Among the topics covered was on Inbound Interaction and Scripting. They were also made aware of ADR to better manage customer interactions. Participants had great fun learning through role-plays and actual call outs to contact centers to gauge industry benchmarks. Lastly, participants made their commitment statements in KSAH portion to further improve themselves and implement trainings when they are back to work.

 

On the 21st and 22nd of October, individuals from 9 organizations gathered for 2 days of learning on how to manage difficult customers in all forms. Many discussions and sharing of knowledge occurred over the two days which brought about useful insights into handling customers that prove to be difficult. The workshop was vibrant with sharing of different experiences and situations added by thoughts and possible actions to take in those situations by the facilitator. The session ended on a high note by the participants understanding and devising service recovery strategies to take back to their respective workplaces.

 

After about 7 hours of activity filled workshop incorporating case studies, discussions and group presentations, participants developed better and more effective communication skills. This was the English Communication Skills Workshop carried out on October 21 -22 at outLOUD Academy, Damansara Perdana. The activities also helped promote better self and team communications among the participants. All left with a smile on their face knowing that they have definitely gained much from the workshop.

 

Supervisors from leading healthcare providers gathered to upskill their people management skills at the Effective Supervisory Skills Workshop from October 13th – 14th at outLOUD Academy. It was very relevant to the participants as the theories applied via discussions and case studies are of actual situations faced. One thing that made it even more fruitful and unique was the usage of activities, role plays and musical instruments in the experiential learning. At the end, the supervisors made an agreement to create a support group for each other moving forward.

 

An event that started at 10am, a hall packed with UMNO youth leaders and a ceremony witness by the Ketua Pemuda UMNO Malaysia, Yang Berhormat Khairy Jamaluddin. This was the memorandum of agreement signing ceremony between ATCEN and Akademi Pemuda for the Certified Contact Center Professional Program under Kementerian Sumber Manusia Train & Place Program. On that auspicious 13th of October, the MOA was signed by Khairul Azwan from Akademi Pemuda and Mr Yandaro Al Amien that represented ATCEN to train 300 youths.

 

5 months has passed since Joey became an apprentice in ATCEN. One afternoon on the 13th of October, she was called into Ernie’s office for a short meeting and the next thing you know, Ernie is out of the office graduating her as an apprentice in front of all. Joey Woon Li Yeung not only graduated as an apprentice in ATCEN but was the 1st one to ever been offered a job before finishing her studies. Congrats Joey!

 

It was an amazing race style activity and the instruction at one of the stops was to fish a duck that has a number underneath it. That will entitle them to get a gift and that was the objective of the challenge. Not many have numbers under them. One participant paid RM4, caught her first duck and not only got a number but it was one that won her a huge bear! This happened in AdTek TEAM Xperience from the 10th -11th of October at Colmar Tropicale Resort, Bukit Tinggi, Pahang. The objective of it was to focus on communication and teamwork and at the end of the teambuilding, participants were committed to organizing an event to improve communication in their organization. Well done Adtek!

 

The participants was filled with different insights on being a contact center team leader throughout

the workshop from 7th – 8th October at ParkRoyal, KL. As the workshop was one that was highly activity and case study based, there were discussions, sharings and ‘immediate feedback’ sessions. They current issues and the applications of the methods of approach were also talked about. The workshop ended with the participants taking a certification examination from WKU, a leading American State University.

 

Team Bonding the Bond… James Bond style. The Software Sales Group from IBM recently went for a Training Touch Teambuilding that was themed “James Bond 007” The Beginning. The program started with an opening speech by SWG Leader, Vincent BS Ler. It followed by an award recognition for those performing individuals that has contributed to the high sales of the company. Participants were also seen doing different Bond related activities including a performance that consist of various Bond songs from the past. It was definitely a memorable event that has not only brought the people closer but more motivated to finish off their last ‘sales quarter’ with a bang!

Henry Ler Tee Heng is not only the first DTM member to make a sales closure but he made history in the whole of ATCEN Group as the apprentice that made the highest one ever with a closure of RM 17,700! He was awarded during a WIP(Work In Progress) Meeting at the ATCEN Learning Center in Damansara Perdana, P.J. on August 27th 2009.

 

The facilitator thought not just through his slides but also using games, actions and even his body language too. The participants of Train The Trainer – Experiential Learning Facilitation Workshop has definitely gained a lot insights from the 11th -12th of August learning through several mock facilitations, games and also feedback from the floor. More than that, they also have loads of fun in the process of it. This event took place at outLOUD Academy, P.J.

 

All they have learned so far are tested and some proved to be champions. This is the final phase of Cyberview’s G.R.E.A.T Teambuilding Program. The participants’ faced many different kinds of challenges such as ‘a walked alone in the dark’, raft building and sailing, an amazing race style activity and many more. They also had the opportunity to be learning in drum circles. This final phase has definitely added value, refresh the learning and opened the eyes of this cooperative and responsive group of students. All these took place from the 10th -12th August at PDS Resort, Port Dickson.

 

Just right after the night performances happened, the lights went out and they realized that there was a power failure! However, this didn’t stop the fun from continuing at the Northern Corridor Implementation Authority (NCIA) – Global Youth Program as the participants was given the opportunity to experience ‘dark’ drum lessons. All these took place at Bukit Hijau Forest Reserve at Kulim, Kedah. An outdoor experiential learning indeed which includes a mixture of problem solving activities and many outdoor challenges that was definitely a great test to the characters of these form 5 students that were there.

 

Customer focus selling is probably the best way to describe what this workshop is all about. The different ways to approach customers, the possibly reasons behind different responses and body languages are among the things discussed at this training. Yandaro, the speaker made this class fun by imparting valuable selling lessons through fun activities. It took place at ATCEN Learning Center fron the 28th to 29th July 2009.

 

Participants from various industries went through an eye opening experience on the basic etiquette of letter writing among many other topics from the 7th till 9th July at outLOUD studios. There, they also learn how to identify what good business writing is and the many ways to deliver their content.

7th July 2009 at ATCEN KL, a day to remember for 20 students under the INSEP CCM Program Batch 2 as that day marks the end of a chapter and a start of a new beginning for them. After 26 days of training which cover 4 main modules like Communication English and Business Writing, Negotiation Skills, Creative Problem Solving Skills and Customer Care Management, their certificates were awarded by the head of ATCEN KL, Lilian Wong. The celebration was completed with food and a group photo that was taken at the end for their memory keeping.

Participants from Media Prima, TV3, NSTP, Berita Harian, Harian Metro, Pos Malaysia and BSN recently met from the 1st – 2nd of July to gain the skills of differentiating their brand. There they learn the 10 key strategies of it and how to develop a strong brand focusing on the 3 core areas, image, people and process. At the end of the sessions, a participant expressed that the trainer’s way of teaching was really good and effective as he used different methods and was straightforward with sharing his knowledge. The workshop was held at ATCEN Learning Center in Damansara Perdana, P.J.

12 staffs took part in Felda’s Teambuilding that took place at PDS Resort from the 27th -28th June. All activities were formed to build teamwork and cooperation among members. Hence the teambuilding host activities like drumming, amazing race and a BBQ session. The participants had great fun while relationships were strengthen.

The day came when 43 participants from the GREAT program went for a survivor challenge, the final phase of their course. This is a combination of outdoor and indoor activities which includes number punch, rafting, nightwalks and solo drops in the middle of the jungle. There was also an amazing-race-like event created just for them. It was held at PDS Resort, Port Dickson from 25th till 27th of June. The participants were really responsive and they not only had fun but also gained life skills from this experience.

A motivational talk was recently held at SMK Sri Damansara 2 on 17th June. This event was also attended by 5 teachers and 5 representatives from MISC Berhad as it was organized by the Liner Business Unit of their company. Ken Ng Kien Mun, the speaker of this talk covered topics like leadership confidence and creative problem solving and decision making skills. There were also prizes that were given to the top 2 groups of the day and for the most outstanding leader among the 6 groups that they were divided to.

After 26 days of intensive training, 20 deserving students under the INSEP CCM Program were awarded their completion certificates by Ernie Chen, The Guru of Confidence. The 26 day training at ATCEN on 16th June covers 4 main modules which are Communication English and Business Writing, Negotiation Skills, Creative Problem Solving Skills and Customer Care Management. There were also food served in conjunction with this celebration. A group photo was taken to end it all and a Facebook Group called Al-Grads has been created for all to keep in touch.

54 kids ranging from 7-12 years of age has recently benefited from Mesiniaga’s Educating the Young Program. This program that was organized by the Corporate Communication Department of Mesiniaga is a one day program where the company’s staffs are allowed to bring their kids to work to provide them with this experiential form of learning.

Thirteen Post graduate students from Western Kentucky University accompanied by Dr. Randall Capps visited The ATCEN International Group on Tuesday March 10 th. The group which is on a working visit met with officials from Bank Negara, organized by ATCEN and will meet with Royal Selangor, Digi and Mesiniaga Bhd in the days to come until their visit ends on March 15 th. While at the ATCEN office, the group was treated to a performance by the Drum Stompers who led them in a Drum Circle workout as well. The Drum Stompers was invited by Siemens to perform in the organization’s Speakers’ Corner event on 25/2/09 as part of their effort to motivate their employees. The Stompers did an attractive and energetic opening act which ‘wow’ed the crowd and during the closing of the session, the drum stompers led the people to participate in a fun-filled ‘drum circle’. Between the wonderful performances, the lead of the Drum Stompers, Mr Yandaro Amien presented a motivational talk on ‘Making the Impossible Possible’ that left the those present inspired.

They are taking the people by storm and even the media are getting hot over them!

The first Open Mic Nite of year 2009 with the theme ‘outLOUD Drum Stompers’ took place in outLOUD Academy, Damansara Perdana on 30 January was a hit and it is a very entertaining session for the invited guests.

The main difference between outLOUD Drum Stompers and other percussion bands is that their show was more than just performance to the audience. It involves the participation of the entire audience into the show that created the ‘fun feeling’ as if they are part of it. This brought about the electrifying interaction between the Stompers and the audience that left everyone feeling at top notch.

As reported in the Star newspaper on February 3, the event was an entertaining affair. In fact, there was more to it!

Now, the excitement has just begun.

Just a week after the Open Mic Nite, the major breakthrough came. The outLOUD Drum Stompers was featured live for the first time on TV3 in their Malaysia Hari Ini morning show on February 6 and their captivating appearance scored once more and caught the attention of another TV channel, RTM 1.

RTM 1 featured the outLOUD Drum Stompers in their morning show, Selamat Pagi Malaysia the following day. The outdoor live feat that took place by the Titiwangsa lake exhilarated not only the talk show hosts but also the production crews and morning joggers as well!

The outLOUD Drum Stompers is now officially introduced to the nation and is set to make waves across Malaysia in a snap of the fingers.

For the 250 students of UiTM’s AUSMAT program, life was they know it, has taken on a more positive and grateful turn.
