Our Contribution

Petaling Jaya
Saturday, 10th October 2007

The ATCEN team had the opportunity to add humility to their learnings as they travel the ATCEN journey.  The second charity visit of 2007 saw the participation of 15 team members making visits to two deserving homes, Rumah Amal Kanak-Kanak (or Praise Emmanuel Children's Home) and Persatuan Anak-Anak Yatim dan Ibu Tunggal Kampung Medan.

Praise Emmanuel Children's Home started in January 2003 with 2 children and today they provide shelter to 30 resident children comprising of children aged from 3 - 19 years. The home committed to attempt and help abandoned, abused, homeless, neglected and orphaned children helping them overcome their troubled past to achieve meaningful and productive lives.  It can be seen that efforts are made to provide them with a balanced diet, proper clothing, and regular medical checkups for their physical well being and proper education as well as spiritual guidance.

Meanwhile, Persatuan Anak-Anak Yatim dan Ibu Tunggal Kampung Medan is located in Taman Sri Medan, Petaling Jaya. Running the home with her own resources, Hajah Kamariah was an orphan herself and was determined to set up such a shelter since she was a child.  Her well-intentions came through when she opened up her own home in Taman Sri Medan to orphans and also single mothers. Since then, this home has welcomed more than 80 children and 60 single mothers.

Although checks and supermarket vouchers were presented to both the homes, what made the visit more memorable was the ATCEN team together with the children of the homes danced with choreography from ‘High School Musical’ which proved to be the highlight of all the activities.  The delight and expressions of joy of the residents and children from both homes was worth its weight in gold and it further emphasized how important the ATCEN ONE program is to the community and the company.

It was a day to remember for several ATCEN members who paid a visit to Persatuan Warga Tua dan Kanak-Kanak Wilayah Persekutuan, PJ Caring Home and Agathians Shelter on the 26th of May 2007.

The visit by some 12 staff members of ATCEN was in support of the ATCEN ONE charity program, where one percent of ATCEN sales revenue is channelled towards the less fortunate.

Home to some 25 children, Persatuan Warga Tua dan Kanak-Kanak Wilayah Persekutuan was formed to provide care for neglected children who need love, shelter and attention.

Housing some 30 children, the Agathians Shelter is an orphanage for boys and provides shelter for orphans, abandoned children and children of single parents. Ranging in ages from 5-17, the boys in the home are managed by Mr Sivabalan.

PJ Caring Home was established as a care provider for people who are mentally ill, homeless or living below the poverty line and adopts an open concept method, where most patients lead as ordinary a life as possible and are encouraged to interact with society.

The visitors, including ATCEN Chief Financial Officer Jeremy Lee, mingled with the residents and hosted a sing-along session to entertain them, singing Man Bai’s “Kau Ilhamku” and ABBA’s “I Have a Dream”.
