University Accreditation

Determining the quality of a degree program is an important step in the enrollment process. National or regional accreditation is a process that gives public recognition to institutions that meet certain standards. It is a promise that an institution will provide the quality of education it claims to offer. Accreditation assures you that the institution operates on a sound financial basis, has an approved program of study, qualified instructors, adequate facilities and equipment, approved recruitment and admission policies, and advertises its courses truthfully.

To be legitimately accredited and to ensure international recognition, an institution must be accredited by an accrediting agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education (DEd) or the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA).* CHEA is a non-profit organization serving as the USA’s advocate for self-regulation through accreditation. Legitimate Accreditation is essential so that you can be confident that the degree you earn is a valuable asset for you in your future career.

Andrew Jackson University is an accredited member of the Distance Education and Training Council (DETC). The Accrediting Commission of the DETC is listed by the United States Department of Education as a nationally-recognized accrediting agency and is a recognized, institution member of the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA)

Beside CHEA and DETC, AJU is also an institutional member of the American Council on Education (ACE), the USA’s umbrella higher education association*, the Council for Adult and Experiential Learning (CAEL), a US leader in the field of adult learning dedicated to expanding lifelong learning opportunities for adults* and an institutional member of the American Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers (AACRAO), a nonprofit, professional association of higher education administrators.*

*Institutional membership is limited to nationally- or regionally-accredited colleges or universities.
